Long standing HF greats zLiP and micheLe are getting married tomorrow! Good luck, Tom and Michele :)

2003.11.04

Almost two years have passed since last news update on this page. HELLFIRE is still alive and thriving.

We have re-entered the regular TetriNET scene with the recruitment of a number of players - Swedish 1:1 specialist acid-devil, American purist J.E.L.L.O. and Belgian kukrapoc_bazza. Together with zLiP and spindizzy, they form our active elite TetriNET team. For the TetriNET2 scene, jakey, brother of jeff and JeR, joined.

HELLFIRE has won the two latest TetriCUPs at www.tetriplanete.com - this is the most noted form of organized competition at the moment. spindizzy and J.E.L.L.O. won the 2vs2 pure tournament, while zLiP, micheLe and kukrapoc_bazza successfully defeated all opponents in the 3vs3 2:1 tournament a couple of days ago.

The TetriNET World Cup, a competition between teams from different nations, was organized and took place in September, and the result must be labeled a big success for HELLFIRE as well - team Sweden won, with three active HF members forming the core thereof - zLiP, spindizzy and acid-devil.

HELLFIRE plays TetriNET 1.13 at tetridome.com, which is currently the most advanced server available. We have discontinued using the JAVA server - it will be brought back online if we need a multichannel team server, and served us well during the T.W.C., but it is a resource hog. Instead, we have gone back to using ekn's old Tserv, a simple, Windows-based one-channel server. There are currently two of them, located at hellfire.darktech.org and zlip.darktech.org.

For the Quadra scene, we recruited a new Swedish player named Midde, formerly from team RecognizE.

2001.11.07

Currently HELLFIRE is much involved with TetriNET2 playing. In the process we have recruited two new members echo and prc. We wish Trevor and David the best luck in years to come as HELLFIRE members.

We have appointed captains for the various sections of our playing and are considering possibilities to further expand the clan.

2001.09.04

Team HELLFIRE played a small skirmish against team FrenchTouch winning 4-1 in pure 2vs2. spindizzy and zLiP played.

2001.05.31

For reasons unknown, the webmasters of the Belgian gaming site shrimpwars.be decided to make an interview with spindizzy, which is now posted there.

2001.05.25

A little piece of comedy for you faithful readers, an icq discussion between spindizzy and MathJMendl about "A few notes on speed" and the drug issue. Good one, that. :)

2001.05.24

HELLFIRE has three new members, BDigital, XXX and Slider was added to the team. BDigital is scaring everyone away from the TetriFAST scene, Slider is currently busy learning the rough trade of Q, and XXX... hmm, I don't really know what he is doing right now (: The second Q tournament was stalled due to the server shutdown lately... I'm going to try and see if we could update it and get it going. And oh yeah, we're the best Quadra team on Earth.

2001.03.20

Yesterday, HELLFIRE won a TetriNET clan match vs the Brazilian DdP Clan, two matches of regular pure Bo9. spindizzy and zlip played the first match, spindizzy and michele the second vs DdP members Under and Ratinho, winning 5-1, 5-2 respectively. You can download and watch the tspec recording of the games here. (:

2001.01.26

I am not currently writing the news so often, however, I am updating the server content at least every week. HELLFIRE has started to arrange Quadra tournaments. The first tournament is finished and the winner was StepheN. All active HF are now devastating Quadra players (I was going to add a face sticking out the tongue, but actually, this is the truth). Also, I made a background image for the server since people were complaining about the white background being too bright for their eyes. Now, I am certain some people will object to this background as well, but the good news are I changed the server links so replacing it will be most simple (shows what your problems are when you're an amateur webmaster, doesn't it). You should also know that this isn't just any wooden background, I actually made it by gif'ing the playing fields background from T2Net, so you can't slander it :P (well, there it came).

I have been lazy with the page because I have been very busy playing lately. To sum up the events of the past three months, I have retired from TetriNET. I was going to take a break from the game for a month starting in October (my first real break from the game for three years), and when I came back I didn't feel motivated and instead got into playing Quadra. This is a far more exiting and rewarding game for me, where we can at last be rid of cheaters and get a chance to play truly great players. (Notes on the subject can be found in the new article "Why Quadra"). Shortly after joining Quadranet we recruited a new member named zLiP, also from Sweden, and currently me, him and Michele are busy playing our hearts out on the Quadranet servers (:. Great things are happening to HELLFIRE and we are determined to keep our clan living and thriving well into the third millenium.

First note in a month. I added a page. I've been occupied with trying to get an occupation lately. Jae left HELLFIRE today for personal reasons, and he is going to create a new team, as yet unnamed. All the best to him.

2000.08.17

The TetriNET League was removed about two weeks ago, obviously the head admin could no longer stand the lameness. Already there are two new team ladders started on Case. The first is run mainly for TetriNET 2, the second is meant to be a restoration of the old UnderNET League and is run by the worst morons of the old staff. I had my hopes in the TetriNET 2 League, since it is not possible to cheat in that game, but already we have seen proof of at least one ladder op cheating with multiple teams on his own ladder. This behavior is truly pathetic, it makes me wonder if there really is a future for this scene. On the bright note, yesterday we inducted Destructo into the clan, which means our specials team is stronger than it has been in ages.

2000.07.24

Ok so what's happened... There has been lots of improvement to the JAHVE code by Pihvi. Tspec support, gamestats, improved configurability, etc.

On the league front... man oh man, are people lame (:
We lost rank one to a team named "The Fallen Ones" (basically, it's old Zero Tolerance minus all the decent guys plus a couple of extra cheaters), playing regular pure at games.ping.be under some mighty strange settings, and then we had all hell getting a rematch (deja vu anyone?). TFO didn't want to play at our server, probably because they were afraid that the ppm display would show them to be cheating with speed patch... oh did I tell you, they would only play regular tetrinet, too, and no tetrifast.

However, finally Dill got all cocky and thought he could whip Jae in regular pure at our server (as usual, noone ever plays our members at their strong settings) but he was sadly mistaken and we regained the rank, and after that they had no choice but to rematch on our terms (notice how WE are always giving rematches, even to teams who are filled with proven cheaters). So we crushed them in two furious 2v2 matches (5-1, 5-3) and now things are back to normal...

Excerpt from log where Charlie, corrupt League op and TFO member, tell Dill what he thinks of rematching HF

Oh right, at least one thing good came out of this... Guardians, a good player and very nice guy who was on TFO got so pissed off at their behavior that he left the team to start an own, and now he's rank 4 with an acceptable record (: It takes some dignity to quit a top ranked team, and he has displayed that. All respect to him.

Another thing... as you may know, our league points disappeared last time we were deleted (all 13000 of them), and everyone said we'd never get them back. Now we're up to 8000+ and rising.

2000.07.09

Lazy, haven't been writing any news for a month. We did after all decide on staying on the League however poorly maintained it may be. We've inducted JaeLuv into the clan (oh yeah that makes eight... heh). Michele won back rank one League for us beating Conter from Tropical Groove twice. And oh yeah, Graffix is back! (:

2000.06.14

I am back again from my latest vacation and incredibly enough the JAVA server was still running when I got home (: nice work Pihvi :p
Congratulations to micheLe, our seventh Case's Ladder champion ;) FAITH Baby! Long live...

2000.06.06

For the time being, HELLFIRE has withdrawn from the Undernet League. Playing there has become increasingly difficult lately, and the atmosphere has grown progressively worse. It may be difficult to believe, but the League is run by envious and hating ops, who are actively trying to sabotage the game and the ranks for the decent teams. It is not run in a professional manner, truth is, it is run by children. This is nothing new, it has happened to other teams, most notably HoRRoR, who were abused to the extreme a couple of years ago. I will not go into excessive detail on the subjects, suffice it to say, our team has been deleted three times by abusive ops, and some of the ops are actively encouraging the teams on the League not to give us rematches should we lose a game. We have been completely dominating the competition on the ranks for the last six months. Obviously, some people can not take that.

2000.06.02

I have actually got to installing perl 5 and making a real guestbook for this web server. This must be the most advanced thing ever running on this computer  (;. Btw, if any of you wonder what kind of server this is running on, it's a Windows 9x/NT box with a TinyWeb server. The server executable is only 50kb. It is also totally freeware, and you can download it here.

2000.06.01

Thanks to Pihvi, we've finally got our own TetriFAST server! Although this is only an experimental release which still needs some work, it definitely looks promising. Also I have officially changed the status of the server to permanent, adding it to the bots in #TetriNET
@ Efnet and Galaxynet. Come out and play everyone (;

2000.05.01

International Workers' Day and a major event in the TetriNET world with the release of the TetriFAST TetriNET patch. This patch removes all delay between blocks in the standard Windows TetriNET 1.13 client. Try it out today! TetriFAST.exe will only connect to experimental
servers (currently plibble.com) and its own built-in server. It's a blast! Bringing TetriNET up to T2net speed. This is also great news for all the hardcore players out there who have got tired of cheaters ruining the ladder scene for us. Use the TetriFAST client for pure ladder and I guarantee you if you're fast enough, it will not matter how much they cheat... ;)

2000.04.29

Another month has passed and no major news. Currently the active members of the team are spindizzy, michele and sharkie. I have done some minor updates on the webpage (pure strategy guide, obscure games and solutions).

2000.03.24

April is coming and even in Sweden the spring is in the air... HELLFIRE was hacked on the undernet league and our team was deleted. Obviously, our adversaries think that the only way they will ever get rid of us is to cheat ;)
Anyway, thanks to some helpful ops, our team is restored, but we still have some problems :/ For instance, all our losses have been deleted, along with our +90 badge and all our points. Still this is only a minor setback. All members please contact spindizzy to sign up for the team again. Let's give them hell.

2000.02.13

Match history restored ;) Team Rave unsuccessfully tried to get us deleted for playing 3+ games by reporting to us four times... just proves that if you got a rule that can lame, it will lame. 13000+ points now...

2000.02.09

Sigh.. our most recent endeavours destroyed our match history on undernet :( However, we now have two teams on the league, Graffix is the captain of the second one. Still #1 and quite unthreatened.. We've welcomed two HoRRoR members into our regular UnderNET team, Brandon and acidboy... HELLFIRE is stronger than ever.

2000.01.30

HELLFIRE just won back rank One UnderNET with a succession of three pure matches vs Ðå®Kïñfê®ñø [4-0, 3-1, 3-0]. Good games DI, thanks for playing us and above all else thank you for putting team Shock in their place ;) btw has anyone else ever reached above 10000 points before ? We are 11400 and rising...

2000.01.26

So, The New Millenium has started out good for HELLFIRE... Maybe even too good, we've trashed the opposition on the league so badly that most people must think we cheat...
Thanks to teams TetrItaly and Spectacular for having the courage to play us ;), without you boys and girls we would probably still be simmering along somewhere in the vicinity of rank 20. Hmm...please do NOT play people you don't trust, I think you know which team I am talking about...

So, How Is UnderNET League? Clearly it is somewhat nicer than Efnet Case's,  although a little messy in reports and such... Less cheaters than EFnet, too, although it has its share.

HellFire would like to award the Medal Of Honor of the month to the true warriors of the UnderNET League:

Conter from team Tropical_Groove
StealthBomber from team Spectacular
Songheje from team TetrItaly

Oh and one last thing! don't play MODs in winAMP while laddering, it produces disaster :/
